1. Managing Committee, MAB takes pleasure in announcing that its Diwali get-together -cum-last "MILLENNIUM FUNCTION" will be held on Saturday, 16th December, 2000 from 7.00 p.m. onwards at the following venue:
Open Ground
Opposite NORITA Building
Hiranandani Complex,
Powai, Mumbai- 400076.
2. This venue is the same where we had our Diwali get-together 2 years ago inDecember 1998 and we are sure it will be familiar to many. However, someguidelines to reach the venue are as follows:
i) Members coming by car/taxi/auto can either come from Andheri (E) / Saki Naka side or from Kanjur Marg / Mulund / Vikhroli side (Old Agra Road, now known as LBS Marg) up the hill towards IIT Powai, come to the Hiranandani Complex and ask for NORITA Building.
ii) Bus No: 329 plying between Ghatkopar (W) and Andheri (E) stations passes through inside the Hiranandani Complex and has a stop right at the venue. This may perhaps be the most convenient way for those travelling by train/bus from Eastern or Western suburbs.
iii) Following buses pass through the main Powai Road. One can take any one ofthese and get down at the Hiranandani stop on the main road. From there take an auto to come inside the Complex to the NORITA Building.
No: 392/396 plying between Mulund (W) and Andheri(E)
No: 422 plying between Bandra (E) and Mulund(W)
No: 424/426 between 4-Bunglows (Andheri(W) and Mulund (W)
No: 185 between Kannam Nagar (Kanjur Marg) and Andheri(E)
iv) Any further or specific guidance about the venue or route etc., can &be had from any of the following Committee members:
Shri Anil Mathur, Powai (Tel: 570 0754/579 7081)
Shri Sushil Mathur, Bhandup (Tel: 568 5727/568 2082)
Shri Ajit Mathur, Bandra (Tel: 649 8673/648 1744)
1. Dinner, drinks, snacks, etc., will be available as usual. A good entertainment program of music and dance, befitting the Millennium function awaits you. Eat-Drink (and be merry!!!) and dance to your heart's content.
(a) Annual membership of Rs. 50/- for the year 2000-2001 may kindly be paid by all members (except Life Members and those who have already paid in the last function in April this year.) at the Reception Counter in the coming function.
(b) When you approach the Reception Counter (or for any communication with the MAB anytime) please do specify your MAB Directory Ref. No. (like C-2, W-49, NW-134, etc.) in addition to your name. This will enable us to locate you quickly in our list and correctly credit your payment against your name.Besides, it will save a lot of your and our time at the Counter, especially during the peak rush.
1. Our last (Holi) function was held on 15.4.2000 at the Church Lawn at 4-Bunglows, Andheri (E) and was attended by 305 persons, including a few new comers who have now been listed as regular members The function, starting from 6.30 p.m., ended around 11 p.m. A good entertainment program with music and a dance floor was provided, besides the usual snacks, drinks and dinner.
2. Members from New Mumbai (Vashi / Panvel, etc.) had hired a special bus to attend the function with families due to which they had a comfortable, convenient and hassle-free to-and-fro journey. We appreciate and applaud their enthusiasm and congratulate the organizers for arranging and coordinating this great facility.Other groups in other Zones can perhaps follow this.
3. In response to our "Appeal for Funds" we gratefully acknowledge receipt of the following sponsorship from our esteemed members and thank them for the same:

We are always in need of volunteers to manage the various counters at functions and once again request members, especially young boys and girls, to come forward for this. Those who feel reluctant to tie themselves down to a counter throughout the function may form groups of two or three so that amongst themselves they can relieve each other and also enjoy the function. We are sure many will find this an exciting assignment along with a sense of fulfillment of rendering an important community service. Please do come forward and convey your names immediately to any of the following

The MAB directory has already been provided free of cost (courtesy Smt. & Shri Hanuman Bahadur Mathur - {C-7} Worli) to all members. The first Corrigendum / Addendum (No. 1/99) to the same was issued along with our news letter dated 1/12/1999 and second one (No. 2/99) updated upto 30/3/2000 along with our newsletter dated 30/3/2000. The third Corrigendum / Addendum No. 3/99 updated upto 30/11/2000 is now enclosed with this newsletter. This is in continuation of the first two and is to be read with reference to the main Directory and the earlier two Corrigendum
It will be best if members carry out these corrections/ additions in their copy of the main Directory, rather than keeping these loose sheets, which can get misplaced.
You would be pleased to know that a web site on behalf of MAB is being planned in the near future. In the meanwhile, to correspond with MAB interactively over the Internet, please send emails to murarikm@hotmail.com
Members having their personal email id's are requested to send these to the above mentioned email id so that News letters, Directory updating etc. can be emailed to them promptly.
Though prices of all food items, service charges, etc., have been continuously rising for quite sometime past, we have so far been withholding any increase in our Food coupon price or in the Membership fee. Now that the things have gone much beyond our resources, we are most reluctantly compelled to raise the Food Coupon price from the present Rs. 50/- to Rs. 60/-each with immediate effect. We sincerely hope that members will kindly appreciate the circumstances and will not mint this marginal increase of Rs. 10/- for food, which anyway is served at a substantially subsidized cost.
As already announced (Ref. Item 5-b of our last Newsletter dated 30/3/2000) we now hold our two annual functions on two fixed days, viz., the third Saturday of April and the third Saturday of December of each year. This will continue to be strictly adhered to, except for some very special reason on a particular occasion. Members are requested to take due notice of this while making advance planning of their engagements for April & December each year.
In response to a proposal in our last Newsletter dated 30/3/2000 regarding compiling a list of our "BIRADRI BUZURGS" (i.e., listed members aged 75 years or more by the end of December, 2000), we got only very few names, though we knew that there were many more eligible ones from whom somehow we had not received a word. With our own efforts thereafter we were able to locate quite a few more names and a list of our respected Senior Citizens, as much as we could gather, is enclosed at Annexure-A. (E&OE)
We specially extend our invitation for this Millennium Function to all these respected Biradri Buzurgs and request them to grace the function with their presence. They will be our honored guests and the MAB will feel happy and privileged to offer them a Complimentary Food Coupon on this occasion
Listed members or families who have been in Mumbai for 40 years or more, i.e., who have been here or continuously maintained their household here since 1960 or before. Even for this we got very few names from members themselves and had to do some fishing ourselves. So, based on whatever response we got or information we could collect, we have complied their list, which is enclosed at Annexure-B. (E&OE)
i) Kindly do (repeat do) inform us promptly of any change in your residential/office address, phone No., etc, as and when it occurs to enable us to keep our Directory always updated and preventing our Circulars to you coming back to us undelivered. Listed members leaving Mumbai for good may kindly make it a definite point to inform us of their departure and if they (specially the Life Members) leave with us their forwarding address, phone no., etc., it will be appreciated.
ii) Members (other than Life Members) may kindly ensure that we receive their Annual membership of Rs.50/- regularly every year. Once in a while we do get shocking but pleasant surprise when a member, unable to come to the function himself, sends his membership fee through somebody else who is attending. How much we wish there were be many more responsible and duty conscious members like him.
Our year is the usual Financial year (i.e. April to March) and as such Annual membership (Rs.50/-) for the year 2000-2001 is now due from all except those who have since paid in our last function on 15/4/2000.
iii) In our dinners, please avoid wastage of food in leaving platefuls of leftovers, especially in children's plates. On our part we will provide more number of food counters so that second and subsequent helpings may be picked up frequently and quickly. Kindly give us your cooperation in avoiding wastage of food and thus indirectly saving our food expenses.
Members from East Zone (Chembur, New Mumbai, Panvel, etc.,) are, like before, thinking of hiring a bus to attend the Powai function on the 16th December. Persons interested in availing this facility may contact Shri Shriraj Mathur, CBD (Tel: 7577262) or Shri Rakesh Mathur, Vashi (Tel: 7823048) at the earliest. It may perhaps be possible for them to include members from Thane and Ghatkopar side also.
For the last Academic Year, 1999-2000, there is only one application, details as follows:
