MAB’s Zonal functions
MAB Directory & Website
Academic Award

Dear Member,

1. Our functions:

As you are aware, MAB was so far holding one Annual function inviting members from the entire Mumbai and suburbs. Of late however, attendance in these functions was seen to be gradually declining, mostly due to distances and many not being free on the function date, beside other reasons. In the meantime, Zonal well attended get togethers in MAB’s seven Zones were being organized regularly, at least once every year in each Zone for some time past. It was, however still considered necessary to provide all members some opportunity (alternative to the earlier Annual function) to enable them to have a get together at their convenience. at least once a year.

As a policy innovation therefore, the Managing Committee decided that instead of MAB’s one central Annual Function, the Zonal functions, organized by the respective Zonal Committees will be further developed with some financial assistance from the MAB and cooperation by its Managing Committee members and members from other Zones.

It will be appreciated that this will provide a good opportunity for closer integration of families from other Zones with those in the host Zone, besides expectation of a larger participation of guests from the host Zone itself. Also, those who earlier used to miss our central function as also those who may now happen to miss a function in their own Zone can attend one in another Zone, thus maintaining their link with the Biradri. All these functions will, ipso facto, be taken as de-centralized MAB functions.

Notices for these functions are normally issued via email or by word of mouth by the host Zone to all its members, as also to as many of other Zones as possible. On its part,MAB also forwards these notices via email to as many as possible with a request to attend the function and further convey it by word of mouth to as many as possible.

However, a Central function can always be held as and when necessity for holding it arises, like for fund collection for welfare and charity activities etc.

2. MAB Joint Meeting

A largely attended (56 attendees) Joint meeting of MAB Managing Committee and the Zonal Committees was held at Emerald Club, Aarey Milk Colony, on Sunday, 26th August, 2012. The attendees included some invitees as also some who had a keen interest in MAB’s activities and volunteered on their own to participate. With the large attendance and availability of varied opinions and suggestions it was possible to discuss at length some important issues like organizing joint functions with better participation, measures for larger reach to Biradri members, further development of MAB Welfare Trust and its charity activities, etc., as guidance for further action. The idea behind holding Zonal Functions in place of the Central function was also explained in detail to the attendees.

It is a matter of great pleasure and satisfaction that a good number of members from our various Zones have come forward to actively participate in Zonal activities and also to offer their services to the MAB in whatever way needed. MAB thanks and welcome all these enthusiastic persons and is sure that their support and services will be of great help..

ANNEXURE - REPORTS ON MAB ZONAL FUNCTIONS

Zone 1 & 2 function held on 10-3-2012 (As already reported in our last Newsletter of July, 2012)

MAB’s Zone-1 (South Zone) & Zone-2 (Central) had their Zonal get together on Saturday, 10th March, 2012 at Hotel Sea Palace, Colaba, followed by a sumptuous (contributory) dinner. It was a function organized for the first time by the Zonal Committees and provided a lively forum for the members of the Zones and their families to meet with each other.

The function was attended by 56 persons which included some from other Zones too, adding to the charm of the occasion. We thank the members of the Zones for extending their cooperation to the organizers and making the function a great success and also look forward to their continued support in future.

Zone – 7 (North Zone, covering areas from Vasai to Mira Road) function held on 28-10-2012

28th October, 2012 indeed was a day to remember for MAB Zone 7 and the members of other zones who had turned up to add flair to the event with their gracious presence. We had gathered at Royal Hill Resort, Vasai to enjoy a day picnic with the members of MAB Zone- 7 and other zones. About 150 members present at the event, made it a success.

Members enjoyed the theme park and cultural events organized by S/Smt. Mukti Mathur, Preeti Mathur and Manisha Mathur. The host for the cultural event was Mayank Mathur. Programs started with Ganpati vandanda, followed by ghazal sung by Prabha Mathur, special tribute paid to the Late, legendry Shri Mukesh by Mathuresh Sherry (Kandivali) and Mukesh Mathur (Juhu) and a parody sung by Rajan Mathur (Kandivali) were the highlights of the event. A motivational speech by Shri. Satish Chandra (Vashi) created a feeling of greatness and brotherhood we Mathurs possess. The cultural event ended up with 3 rounds of Antakshri and a game of Housie. A proper management of meals and drinks served along with the fun we had at the cultural event will remain an unforgettable memory among the members who hope to continue it as years pass.

Zone-3 (East Zone, covering areas from Sion, Chembur, New Mumbai, Panvel) Dewali get together function held on 17-3-2013

1. The evening function, attended by a total 126 guests (including 20 from other Zones) went off very well, though it had to be kept as a low key one due to the sad demise of Shri Balasaheb Thackery hours before the event time. For a while it was debated whether to take the risk of going ahead with the function in apprehension of possible social or political back lash due to the charged atmosphere. However, the organizers took a bold decision to take a cautious, calculated step to hold the function, but without much fanfare, even under the uncertain conditions.
The function was eventually held as scheduled, though without a mike or any decorative settings etc. In addition, quite a few well prepared and rehearsed stage items by our local talents (specially some group items prepared by Smt. Meena Mathur of NRI Complex, Nerul) had to be regretfully abandoned.

Those who came all the way to attend the function even under difficult traffic conditions prevailing in the city, making the event a success, deserve our great appreciation and thanks. That was the spirit, the zeal and enthusiasm shown by these individuals. Some 15 guests who had promised to attend could not do so due to the disturbed conditions in the city mentioned above. The programme was ably compered by Mrs Rekha Mathur (Vashi) who also introduced the new members and guests from other zones, besides conducting cultural activities as much as possible to keep the morale and enthusiasm high of all the young participants who had laboreosly prepared items for the show.
The Veg. & Non-Veg. food and snacks served were appreciated by all. It would have been much better but for the unforseen turn of events, as mentioned above.

2. Our sincere thanks are due to the following for valuable assistance rendered in the function as follows:

a) Mrs. Sharda Chandra (Vashi), Mrs. Manjula & shri Lalit Mathur (Anushaktynagar) for managing the Reception & Registration counters, getting MAB Membership forms filled up and collecting Annual / Life Membership fee for MAB.
b) Mrs. Vibha Mathur (Koperkhairane) and Mrs. Anju Mathur (Vashi) for manning the coupons counter .
c) Shri Shymendra Narain / Mrs. Meenakshi, (E-102/NRI Comp. Nerul) ) who took MAB’s Life Membership took MAB’s Life Membership by paying the fee o Rs. 1000.

3. Sponsorship: We gratefully acknowledge and sincerely appreciate the following sponsorships and thank the respective sponsors for their generosity and kind gesture:

In addition, we also acknowledge receipt of assistance of Rs.6,000 in cash from MAB as their contribution towards the function. Fashion show, cat walk by aspiring models, our own betis and bahus were also one of the team games. Namrata assisted in handing out the prizes while Chetan held forth the mike and audience intermittently introducing the new and old members alike with Rakesh Dayal (who also got the venue at concessional rates) adding his bit.

We also had on the spot dances by some talented tiny tots motivated by the continuous feet tapping music played by the disk jockey. Gifts and music was sponsored by our S.S (staunch supporter) Sushil Mathur (Powai), a pillar behind our cultural activities.

It was non stop hungama from the word GO!
